Dragon Boat Day 2005 - The Bruce Trust

Hannah, a boat owned by The Bruce Trust charity, also took part in the Dragon Boat Day 2005. The Bruce Trust (http://www.brucetrust.org.uk) owns and maintains a small fleet of barges specially designed and built to accommodate people with physical disabilities.

The photograph above shows Hannah, moored adjacent to the Dragon Boat site. Members of the public were invited to step onboard and look around her.

President of the Rotary Club of Abingdon Vesper David Barnett,  presented a cheque from Rotary to the Bruce Trust. This money was used to make special modifications to the barges which would allow disabled passengers (under supervised conditions) take steering control of the boat.

For about three weeks each year, the Rotary Club of Abingdon Vesper hires these barges and provides special days out for disabled groups. If you would like to know more about these barge trips please click here.
