Welcome |

As recent Past Presidents of the two Abingdon Rotary Clubs, may we welcome you to our web site. You may already have navigated the site and have discovered how active the two Clubs are in their service both to the local community and to the wider world and also in their fund-raising activities. All Rotary Clubs worldwide work hard to promote international friendship, peace and understanding and if you feel such ideals are for you, we hope you will continue reading. The events of the past few months have highlighted the desperate need of many peoples around the world as a result of natural disasters or poverty. On New Year’s Day, 2005 Abingdon Rotary Clubs joined forces to collect money for the victims of the Asian Tsunami. We were humbled by the generosity of the people of Abingdon. Some £10,000 was raised in a matter of hours! Rotary International has systems in place to respond quickly and effectively in such situations and our Rotary District remains active in the reconstruction of a village in Sri Lanka, in cooperation with a local Rotary Club there. Rotary International has just celebrated its Centennial – why not join us as we begin our next 100 years of service? Alternatively, you may know of an organization or project that might benefit from our help? We hope that this site has inspired you to find out more about Rotary in Abingdon and you would be more than welcome to drop in at one of our meetings. Please send an email to giving your name, contact details and one of our members will contact you.
