The Barge Trips organised by the Rotary Club of Abingdon Vesper are a major service activity provided by the Club Members, their partners and friends, to benefit a wide cross section of handicapped or disadvantaged people in our community. Members of the Club have undertaken specific and rigorous training to ensure that high standards of safety are maintained at all times. Whilst a disciplined approach is taken, our interaction with those who come on the trips is relaxed, and many participants find that they achieve far more than they had ever thought possible by helping the Rotarian crew to run the barge. Click here to see a short account and some pictures of last year's event. Applications for places come in very early, and they are lodged by organisations (e.g. a PHAB Club, a Stroke Club, a sheltered workshop, etc) rather than by individuals. The barge can accept parties of up to 10, including helpers. If you are with an organisation which has members whom you feel would benefit from what we have to offer, please complete the form below and someone from the Rotary Club will be in touch with you as soon as possible. This year, Barge Trips start on 19 June and end on 9 July.
I would like our group to be considered when compiling the programme of organisations participating in the 2004 Barge Trips. Revised: August 13, 2004
